We’ve stopped for a few days in Sevierville, Tennessee just north of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We find ourselves drawn here.
This visit, we are staying at the Dell Motor Coach Resort off Apple Valley Road. It’s a Class A resort with only 18 sites, but part of a larger resort with rental cabins.
We drove to Cherokee, NC one day making the drive through the National Park. There was a large fire here last fall and you can still see evidence here and there, but it is surprising just how well the area has recovered.
We made the mandatory visit to the tourist trap town of Gatlinburg with its moonshine, fudge, old time photo and souvenir shops. The fire came very close to destroying the town.
We had a very yummy breakfast at the Apple Barn Restaurant just down the street, and would recommend it if you’re ever in the area.
We also visited Bush’s Baked Beans Visitors Center. Fun, fun.
Making our way west, next stop Nashville.
